We bought an Everlast Ascent spinning bike. Set it up and could not figure out where the batteries for the computer go. Sent a WhatsApp to Peter [****] after 20:00 in the the evening and we were almost instantly assisted. Well done 👏 👏 👏 for after sales service.

I bought the Everlast Ascent Indoor Spinner without knowing what to expect. There are no reviews for this spinning bike on Takealot or anywhere online that I could find.
The reason why I selected it (I considered several) was the user weight of 150 kgs, so all my family can use it and because of the electromagnetic flywheel - less maintenance.
Although only a 13kg flywheel it is enough to keep you fit during the raining season of winter until you can tackle the outdoors again.
The bike came well and securely packaged and all bolts and tools are clearly marked and wrapped professionally. It had a slight crack on the left hand side cover (covers the magnet) where the screw goes in but to me it was not worth it to send the bike back because of this - you have to bend down to notice it.
The bike comes partly assembled and the booklet explains how to attach the pedals, seat, handlebar and computer.
However the booklet does not explain the following:
There are two internal cables that must be connected to the computer, the booklet only mentions one. There are three connections at the back. The thin one must be plugged in by the hole that states ‘gears’.
Also not mentioned in the description of the bike when you buy it is that it has bluetooth and compatible with Kinomaps. You have to choose FTMS from the selected brands because Everlast is not a brand listed compatible with Kinomaps.
When connected it works smoothly. The bluetooth was really a big surprise to me because I had to choose between AngryFit and this one and I nearly chose AngryFit because of the bluetooth.
With the bike comes a charging cable - nothing is mentioned in the booklet. We didn’t know what to do with it and we also didn’t know how to check the monitor to replace batteries. It turns out there are no batteries and it works with power. At the back of the bike where the stand makes an inward v-shape (right at the bottom) is a small hole and that is where you plug the bike in. It should be noted that the cord is in no way an obstacle.
What is nice when using, for example Kinomaps, resistance will be automatically adjusted.
The bike does not come with SPD pedals and apparently this should have been removed from the listing (bit of a disappointment)
The left pedal made an irritating loud noice. We swopped it with a flat pedal and noice was gone. Received replacement pedals yesterday from Everlast, fitted the new left pedal, again a slight noice but not as loud as previously. Seems to have a problem with the left pedals because nothing wrong with the right side.
The seat is comfortable for me, maybe because I am used to my MTB seat.
The bike is sturdy, it looks nice and I am very happy with it and it comes with a 2 year warranty.
I must commend Peter from Everlast because I found a whatsapp nr on Facebook the Saturday evening when we struggled with the power cables etc and he immediately responded with videos explaining everything. When I had the problem with the left pedal he arranged a replacement within a week.
I will most definitely recommend anyone to buy this spinning bike.
